After you establish the budget..

Time to get quotes from pool builders. This can be the most time consuming process. What do you look for in a pool builder? What do they "offer" that the other's don't? What is their reputation?

How do you choose the "right" pool builder?

1. Start with their reviews, ratings and references from the public. Google, social media, website, etc

Eliminate anyone with too many unsatisfactory reviews.

2. You want references from each pool builder. Customers to TALK to and to SEE their projects. Ask for references close by you.

3. Someone that offers financing. You may not need financing, but companies that do offer financing, usually have gone through screening and in depth vetting from the lenders to offer their financing programs to the public. They ensure companies have proper insurance, licensing, current LLC, etc.

4. Find a pool builder, not a landscaping, or fencing company that does pools. You want to find a pool builder that can offer everything to complete your project, even perhaps they sub out trades, they at least have relationships and can bundle everything in together, giving you ONE point of contact for your entire backyard project. The pool is the largest and most important part of your backyard project, don't let a landscaping company do the pool builder vetting for you. You want to see and meet the pool builder, check their references, and warranties offered.
